What is
ENCORE?
The Encore

to offer lifelong education that will provide opportunities
for personal growth and development, survival skills needed
for self-maintenance, and economic self-sufficiency. The
college will offer a variety of ENCORE classes, ranging
from art and music appreciation to learning how to use the
internet. Physical Education, Music, Art,
and Literature are among the course offerings which are
currently provided
Why EDUCATING
THE EDUCATOR?
The EDUCATING THE
EDUCATOR FOR ENCORE course includes pedagogical issues
which will help facilitate the development of courses
for the ENCORE program. This course consists of educational
theories/practices, teaching methodologies, learning styles,
testing, evaluation, and curriculum development geared
towards educating the older adult.
The course is organized
around two major themes: 1) the application of knowledge
and 2) learner focused. The lessons are designed to apply
what is being taught, but to also stay learner focused
by giving choices and by designing participatory learning
assignments.
This is a required
course (2 units) for instructors who will be instructing
students for the ENCORE program.
